The year 2021 is the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan". Our university has clarified the development direction of "advancing the quality and upgradation of the university guided by subject construction", and steadily promoted the construction of high-level undergraduate education and application-oriented demonstration universities.The university will link scientific research and social cooperation closely to the development strategy objectives, with the goal of "applying for the master's degree program",to intensify discipline construction, gather resources, highlight key points,andadd new provincial and ministerial base platforms, strive to improve scientific and technological productivity, and improve the level of serving thelocal and the teachers.

In 2020, the contractual funds for the scientific research of the university totaled RMB 55,643,900.The total contractual funds for research subjects was RMB 47,794,500, of which the funds for government sponsored subjects were RMB 10.3674 million, the funds for horizontal commercial research subjects were RMB 37.3271 million, the special funds for basic scientific research operations of the universities affiliated to Zhejiang Province reached RMB 3.3774 million, and the local cooperation service fee was RMB 2.092 million. The university owned 331 research programs of various types, including 3 national programs, 50 provincial and ministerial ones, 26 municipal and department alones, and 186 horizontal research programs (including 85 horizontal programs with the fund more than RMB100,000). There were also 64 university-level scientific research programs and 2 others.

The faculty and staff of the university published 543 papers in various academic journals, of which 65 were included in SCI and SSCI, 21 were included in EI, 1 was respectively included in ISTP and ISSHP, 3 were reprinted in full text by Renmin University of China, and 34 were authoritative and first-level papers,6 theoretical articles published in Guangming Daily and China Social Sciences Journal, 12 papers in the core journal of Zhejiang University (16 papersin thecorejournal of Peking University, and 5 papersin thecorejournal oftheAcademy of Fine Arts); and published 9 monographs; awarded with 28 authorized invention patents, 139 utility model patents, 28 appearance design patents,and 78 computer software copyrights; won1 provincial achievement awardas the first organization, 2 provincial participation awards, and 3 department-level achievement awards.

In 2020, the university newly built a provincial-level base for international scientific and technological cooperation on "Remote Sensing Image Processing and Application", achieving a zero breakthrough in the provincial scientific research platform for thescience and engineering majors of ouruniversity! In addition, the university has already had one provincial key research base for philosophy and social sciences of the "Zhejiang Modern Service Industry Research Center", one provincial key innovation team, and onecountryand region research center of the Ministry of Education. It has also established 4 research institutionsof province and university cooperation program, which are respectively, the Program of Building Innovation Carriers through the Introduction of Famous Colleges and Universities, "Zhejiang Home Economics Education Union", "Analysis and Testing Technology Training Base of Large-scale Scientific Instrument Collaboration andSharingPlatform of Zhejiang Province", and "China-Belarus Joint Laboratory of Environmentally Friendly Product Development and Technology Transformation"; one university cultivation platform of "Collaborative Innovation CenterofSmart Elderly Care and Domestic Service", two overseas cooperative research institutions,i.e."Zhejiang Shuren University Belarusian Research Center" and "Zhejiang Shuren University Cross-Strait Science and Technology Cooperation Center"; and has also set upfive major research centers including “Institute of Interdisciplinary Sciences”, and 18 university research institutions including “China Non-governmental Higher Education Research Institute”. The university owns 4provincial-level first-class disciplines: "Computer Science and Technology", "Applied Economics", "Civil Engineering", and "Environmental Science and Engineering", and has 5 university-level key disciplines.It continues to attach great importance to the application of master's degreeprogram, regards the work of applying for the master's degree program as the main goal of the construction of first-class disciplines, and establishes two cultivation directions for applying for master's degree program, which are respectively, “Engineering” and "International Business". By 2020, the university has total of 48 part-time master tutors, and a total of 101 postgraduates have been jointly cultivated, which has laid a good foundation for the construction of the discipline platform and application for master's degree program in the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

Based on the principle of "mutual benefit, complementary advantages and win-win development", in 2020, the university continued to strengthen industrial cooperation with local governments.Ithas established strategic partnerships with Tiantai County People’s Government, Keqiao District Yangxunqiao Town People’s Government, Tiantai County Sanzhou Township, and Jingning County People’s Government, and has reached a consensus on cooperationwith Gongshu District Science and Technology Bureau, Keqiao District Science and Technology Bureau, and Longquan Science and Technology Bureau, Tongxiang Science and Technology Bureau and other science and technology departments. At the same time, the university also actively organized exchange activities with enterprises, and carried out in-depth industry-university-research cooperation with REEL Light Environment Group, Enjoy TownGroup, Jinggong Steel Building Group, Zhejiang Hexin Toys Group and other enterprises.

Due to the impact of the epidemic, the number and scale of academic activities in 2020 were affected to a certain degree, but various forms of online interaction such as cloud conferences, cloud communications, and cloud seminars, combined with diversified methods of offline and online-offline communications, made academic exchanges more convenient and smooth, and also guaranteed the effect of academic activities. In 2020, our university has conducted online academic exchanges many times with the universities and research institutes in Belarus. In April, we co-organized the "Video Academic SeminaronDigital Economy" with the Belarus State Economic University; in May, we co-organized the "Video Seminar on Key Information Security Technologies for Smart Health Care" with the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. In July, jointly held "Video Seminar on Biomedical Technologies" with the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics; in October, jointly organized the "China-Belarus Scientists Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (Cloud Forum)" with Belarusian State University, Belarus State Economic University, and Belarusian State Medical University. A series of high-end online seminars greatly facilitated and promoted the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation innovation between our university and Belarusian universities. In order to improve the application success rate of high-level scientific research projects of the university, the Scientific Research Office has also repeatedly invited relevant experts outside the university to hold national, provincial and ministerial training meetings or counseling sessions on project application, online or face to face, which has fully mobilized the enthusiasm of all teachers in project application. The annual activity of provincial and ministerial project report month was held in November. A total of 65 special report sessions were carried out in 10schools, 2 research institutes and 1 center, which significantly promoted academic exchanges and interactions within the university and greatly enhanced the academic research atmosphere on campus. In November, the first "University Academic Salon" organized by the Scientific Research Office with the aim of strengthening and promoting the rapid development of our university’s interdisciplinary integration was also successfully held, providing new exchange opportunities and cooperation platforms for teachers from different disciplines.In addition, the brand-based academic activities such as the "Humanities Lecture Hall" jointly organized by the Federation of Social Science and the School of Humanityand Foreign Languages, and the "Root Salon" organized by the School of Modern Service Industry, and the "Yuehu Lecture Hall" on the Yangxunqiao Campus were also carried out through online or offline methods, and many famous domestic experts and scholars gave wonderful reports to the teachers and students of our university. The wonderful and diverse academic activities have created a strong academic atmosphere for our university, which has also greatly promoted and strengthened the academic exchanges, communications and cooperation inside and outside theuniversity.

In 2020, we also made gratifying achievements on our university's journal work. At the end of October, the Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation of Wuhan University released the Chinese Academic Journal Evaluation Research Report (TheSixth Edition), and the Journal of Zhejiang Shuren University was rated as "RCCSE Core Academic JournalofChina (A-)". This was the first time for our journal being evaluated into the Class A of this rankinglist.In early November, in the Annual Report on the Impact Factors of Chinese Academic Journals (2020 Edition) jointly issued by Tsinghua University China Academic Journals (CD-ROM Edition) Electronic Publishing House and China Scientometrics and Bibliometrics Research Center, the composite impact factor of theJournal of Zhejiang Shuren Universitywas 0.511, which was the highest value since its first issue. At the end of December, in the evaluation of "Excellent Columns of Periodicals of East China" organized by the East China Federation of Periodicals Associations, the column of "Non-governmental Higher Education" of theJournal of Zhejiang Shuren Universitywon the "Excellent Column" of the Periodicals of East China.

According to theRanking List of Comprehensive Competitiveness 2021-2022-Ranking List of Competitiveness of Non-governmental Colleges and Universities in the Evaluation Report of Chinese Universities, Disciplines and Majors (2021-2022) issued by Golden Apple Ranking Network of Science & Education Evaluation in China hosted by Qiu Junping, the comprehensive ranking of our university ranked second among non-governmental undergraduate universities across the country, and first among civilian-run undergraduate universities in Zhejiang Province.
